Digital nomad competence, earned the expensive way.
The name started with the obvious joke: a foreigner roaming around, chasing a little chaos, and treating every trip like an antihero story. Then the mistakes kept teaching me things. Bad became a method.
Life rewards action over intelligence. That idea drives the site: move, pay attention, improve the system, and pass the useful lesson along.

Preparation matters. So does getting on the plane. I do enough work to see the likely outcomes, take action, and adjust from evidence.
Learn from your mistakes, treat local people with respect, share useful lessons, and leave the scammer shit at home. Failing can be funny. Repeating the same preventable failure gets expensive fast.

Travel started early.
Ethiopia was my first country abroad. China came next, including a largely independent stay at 17. I learned early that the interesting parts begin after the easy answers run out.

Retail paid for the exits.
I worked high-volume retail sales, used the PTO to travel, and burned out hard as the pandemic changed the work. The remote-work dream arrived through a customer who offered a lead, then disappeared after I quit.

The backup became the career.
After a month through Europe, I called people from an old marketing internship and found contract work. Employee paperwork arrived while I was sitting at a beach cafe in Jamaica. I signed it on my phone. That was also the last time I pretended working from the beach was a good idea.

Mexico turned a trip into a system.
I got clear permission to spend the winter there and kept going. Marketing work funded stays of roughly one to six months while LATAM became my main operating base.
One wallet is one failure point.
A robbery took my cash and cards. Apple Pay kept one discarded credit card usable. Today I split access, carry backups, and insure the gear worth replacing.
Every connection adds another way to lose Monday.
Three- and four-flight returns wrecked workdays after delays. My personal rule now caps the trip home at two flights.
Your location should not feel like dirty laundry.
Hidden-location stress poisoned early trips. Clear employer permission, sensible security, and honest scheduling removed a pile of avoidable pressure.
Public content, private email, community reports, and consulting each use a different part of the experience earned through work and life abroad.
